We are very excited to introduce Diamonds by TANE, and we are sure you will love them as much as we do!

As we are 100% committed to sustainability, we only work with lab-grown diamonds, making TANE México 1942 one of the first established jewelry brands in the world to present jewelry collections that combine silver with lab-grown diamonds.

In addition to sustainability, we are also concerned about transparency, which is why we provide detailed information about our diamond journey.

Lab-grown diamonds are diamonds that are produced using cutting-edge technology that replicates nature's process, without the cost and negative environmental or human impact of mined diamonds.

Lab-grown diamonds allow for greater transparency in an industry that is often more secretive. Most of the diamonds extracted come from unethical supply chains in conflict regions, with poor working conditions, low wages and human rights violations.

Furthermore, the environmental impact of diamond mining is very high: for a single diamond of 1 carat, you have to drill between 40,000 and 80,000 kilos of the earth. Environmental impact includes soil erosion, land displacement, deforestation and ecosystem destruction. By taking control of the process, it is possible to create a supply chain that is completely transparent and less harmful to the environment and the communities and animals that live in nearby areas. This is just the beginning of the "Diamond Revolution." There is still a long way to go and there is room for improvement, but it is a leap in the right direction. At this point, lab-grown diamonds are certainly more ethical and environmentally friendly than mined ones.

Yes, lab-grown diamonds are real diamonds.

Lab-grown diamonds have ushered in a new era of sustainability, offering environmentally friendly options in an industry historically dominated by mined diamonds. And they share the same physical, atomic and chemical properties of their extracted counterparts. As of 2018, the Jewelry Guides published by the US Federal Trade Commission (FTC) consider both lab-grown and mined diamonds to be real diamonds.

The only difference between the two is the point of origin. Unlike mined diamonds, lab-grown diamonds, like those TANE uses for its jewelry, are guaranteed provenance.

LABORATORY DIAMONDS VS
MINED DIAMONDS

Chemically, physically and optically they are identical, the only difference is their origin. Diamonds mined from the earth are believed to have formed between 1 billion and 3 billion years ago, approximately 14 km below the surface. The carbon dioxide was exposed to extreme temperatures (1093+ °C) and extreme pressure, and the diamonds were then moved from the core to the crust through volcanic explosions.

A good way to compare lab-grown diamonds and mined diamonds is to think about ice. Humans use a freezer to make ice cubes, while nature creates floss at the North Pole. The result is the same but the origin is different.

HOW TO DIFFERENTIATE
LABORATORY DIAMONDS
FROM MINED DIAMONDS

Lab diamonds have the same physical, chemical and optical properties as mined diamonds. The only way to see the difference is with a special machine that has been developed to see the structure of atoms. For this reason, the GEMEX, GIA HRD and IGI laboratories classified laboratory-grown and mined diamonds in exactly the same way.
